The less the air in the room is renewed, the more the CO2 level increases. The risk of transmission of Covid-19 is becoming greater. In this school, sensors have been installed in several classrooms and in the dining hall.

Room ventilation is essential

This measure is essential for infectious diseases specialists, who have extensively studied the modes of transmission of the virus. “We realized that the covid-19 coronavirus was transmitted mainly by aerosolization. This means that when we breathe, we emit a small cloud that we can see very well for example in winter, in the street when it is cold. If the room is not ventilated, the cloud can hover for several minutes, sometimes even for several hours, and imagine that this cloud is that of our aerosols and that it contains coronavirus, then if you stay in the part, you too for several hours, you risk infecting yourself with this coronavirus ” explains Professor Antoine Flahault.

While sensors are recommended, they are currently not used everywhere. Scientists and parents’ associations are calling for CO2 sensors to be compulsory in schools.
