He was on duty, attended operations and prescribed drugs … all illegally! At 20 years old, this former stretcher bearer of the Assistance-Publique of the Hospitals of Paris (AP-HP) was posing as a medical student, reveals France Info March 5.

The Hauts-de-Seine prosecutor’s office opened a preliminary investigation on February 19 and the AP-HP has just seized the public prosecutor of Nanterre, according to France Info. The Parisian Brigade for the Repression of Crime Against the Person (BRDP) was also reportedly seized.

False student card and distance learning

The fraud would have started at the start of the 2020 academic year, when the young man then employed by the AP-HP as a stretcher bearer at the Saclay University Hospital (Essonne) pretends to be a student of the Paris-Descartes medical school (Paris V) . He takes out a fake student card, joins several student associations and follows the courses remotely. He does not participate in the January 2021 exams, claiming to have covid-19.

Prescriptions of neuroleptics

According to France Info, the false student would have provided guards and entered the operating room of Cochin hospital on several occasions in the fall of 2020.

He would then have completed an internship in psychiatry at Sainte-Anne hospital, where he allegedly provided false information to patients and their families and prescribed neuroleptics to certain patients, usurping for this identifiers stolen from practitioners. It was in this department that he was reportedly spotted by the doctors.

No questioning for the moment

But the student would not have been arrested and “would have renewed his actions since his report to justice in mid-February“, reports France Info.
Since the identification and the report of this suspect, the AP-HP would have diffused an internal message intended for all the hospital executives and comprising the instruction to deny him any access to their services.
