A cluster in a nightclub. In Bordeaux, 35 people tested positive for Covid after evenings spent on July 9, 10 and 13.

Two cases were reported by Health Insurance as of Thursday, July 15. 19 more cases were reported on Saturday July 17 and 14 more cases were reported on Sunday July 18.

Health Insurance is continuing its research to identify possible transmissions. She also asked the establishment concerned, the Hanger FL, to encourage people who attended these evenings to be tested and vaccinated.

Threat of the Delta variant

In New Aquitaine, the Delta variant represents 53% of contaminations for the week of June 28 to July 4. This worries the health authorities, because the vaccines seem less effective against the Delta variant than against other strains of the virus.

In addition, the environment of nightclubs, reopened since July 9 after more than a year of closure, is particularly conducive to transmissions. Wearing a mask is only compulsory when people are moving around the disco and not dancing.

Discos and health pass

ARS Nouvelle-Aquitaine recalls that checking the health pass is “the only way to secure festive events”. This pass takes the form of a QR code which certifies either the negative result of a test lasting less than 48 hours, or a vaccination, or a certificate of recovery.

The authorities explain that the staff of the establishments must scan and validate this QR code by the TousAntiCovid verif application. He must then verify the identity of the person to ensure that it corresponds to the health pass presented.
