On February 16, the health authorities recorded a slight decrease in the total number of patients in hospital: 27,953 on February 3 against 25,464 on February 21. But in intensive care over the same period, there was a slight increase from 3,267 to 3,392 people.

Santé Publique France reports 22,046 people tested positive on February 21. This figure is in the high average of the number of cases recorded in recent days.

In addition, the reproduction rate R of the virus is equal to 0.93 on February 13 according to the weekly epidemiological assessment of Public Health France. When it is greater than 1, it means that the epidemic is progressing.

The progress of vaccination

As of February 20, 2.5 million people have been vaccinated, of which 1.2 million have received the two necessary injections. On February 18, the symbolic milestone of one million people vaccinated with two doses was crossed.
