Vaccination will be extended “from May 1” to all people over 18 “who are seriously overweight”, or a body mass index greater than 30, announced Emmanuel Macron in an interview with the regional press made public Thursday April 29.

“I invite the 2.3 million French people concerned to go to the vaccination centers this weekend”, continues the Head of State excluding for the moment to open vaccination to all. Obese people over 55 were already given priority for vaccination.

No age limit in some municipalities

“Open vaccination without age limit. Registration compulsory & exclusively reserved for the inhabitants of the town”, we can read on the website and the Facebook page of the city of Quillan, in the Aude.

Contacted by AFP, the mayor of Quillan, Pierre Castel, declined to comment on this decision. The Regional Health Agency (ARS Occitanie) had not reacted in the middle of the afternoon.

The day before, the LR mayor of Cannes, David Lisnard, announced the opening of vaccination to all residents aged 40 and over. Officially, vaccination is currently open to people over 55, the most vulnerable 50-54 years and to certain professions or vulnerable people.
