Vaccine and donation are well compatible

On the occasion of this call for donation, the EFS reminds us that it is “possible to donate blood without delay, either before or after an injection of the covid-19 vaccine “.

A useful clarification, because last June, a “fake news”, affirming that vaccinated people were no longer eligible for blood donation, had been widely circulated on the internet.

No donation in case of covid

On the other hand, in the event of symptoms of covid or of a positive test, a delay is required.

• If you are symptomatic, this period will be 28 days after the onset of symptoms or 14 days after the symptoms disappear.
• If you are asymptomatic, the delay will be 14 days after the date of the positive test before you can donate blood.
• If you are in contact : wait 14 days after the last contact with the sick person to safely donate blood.
