It is not always easy to convince people who are often ill-informed about vaccination and who do not always speak French. In this center, nearly forty precarious people are vaccinated every day. And we are still far from the mark.

Reaching vulnerable audiences

In Seine-Saint-Denis, only 38% of the population received at least one dose of vaccine against almost 50% in Paris. So, vaccinating on site, as close as possible to vulnerable groups, for the doctor at the initiative of the project, is the only way to move forward in the vaccination campaign.

“We still manage to convince with the explanation and then people know us, they trust. They know that when they come here, they are completely free, they know that we do not check the papers, we do not check anything.

This too is a population that would escape us if we did not go out in front of them. And it reassures them to know that at the Red Cross, they will be welcomed without distinction ” explains Dr Jean-Marc Agostinucci, emergency doctor at the SAMU and Red Cross referent in Seine-Saint-Denis.

A bet to achieve collective immunity

A vaccine is systematically offered on site to people who come to collect a food package. A benefit for the most precarious but also a bet to achieve collective immunity.

“These populations will move, they will spread, they will meet other people, they will go to other hotels maybe next week because the 115 will have assigned them another site. And inevitably, that prevents the spread of the virus ” adds Dr Jean-Marc Agostinucci, emergency doctor at the SAMU and Red Cross referent in Seine-Saint-Denis.

In Sevran, vaccination will continue throughout the week. Before continuing in other towns in the department.
