In the department of Oise, it is called “the confined hotel”. Opened in June 2020, this establishment has never closed since. At 44, Guillaume suffers from back pain, pressure on the lungs, fever and dizziness … A test has confirmed that these symptoms are indeed those of covid-19.

So he chose to come and isolate himself in this hotel. “I am in a roommate and to protect my roommate, I made a request to Social Security to find out if there was the possibility of being housed because I had heard about it. I have my parents who are already elderly, my mother who has comorbidities, so I preferred to avoid going to their place so the only solution was actually to be housed here ” explains Guillaume.

An operation supported by the state

On this day, 36 people are accommodated in this hotel. And the majority are infected with the English variant, which is very contagious. Being able to isolate oneself is therefore essential to break the chain of contamination.

“The objective is really to be able to isolate, protect and take care of people contaminated by covid-19, non-seriously ill people, who are accommodated in collective structures such as migrant workers’ homes, social residences, where the risk of contamination is high. We are also addressing homeless people ” explains Sandrine Crapez, director of the territorial unit of Oise at the Coallia association.

Since its opening, this accommodation center has welcomed more than 300 people, with a peak reached in March 2021. The operation of this structure is fully supported by the State.
