Vaccination “dedicated slots” will be open from this weekend of April 17 and 18 in several vaccination centers for teachers and police officers over 55 and several other professions particularly exposed to Covid-19, announced Thursday Jean Castex .

The Prime Minister also stressed that the bar of 12 million people who received a first dose would be crossed on April 15. This is two million more than the announced target of 10 million for mid-April.

Who will be able to access it?

The new measure will concern teachers in schools, colleges and high schools and early childhood professionals. But also the police and gendarmes, prison supervisors, specialist nursery school officers (Atsem) and AESH (accompanying children with disabilities).

That is to say in all about 400,000 people, specified the Prime Minister while visiting a vaccination center in Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse. They will be able to receive injections of the AstraZeneca vaccine or of Pfizer or Moderna, he added.

“I have also asked the Minister of Labor to initiate a consultation with the social partners to identify other employees in the private sector who could also benefit, because of their function, from these priority niches,” said Jean. Castex.

Vaccination for those over 55

Since April 12, vaccination has been extended to all over 55s, who can make an appointment with their doctor or in a pharmacy for a shot of AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson vaccine, from which France must receive a first delivery of 200,000 doses this week.

While schools have been closed to curb the epidemic, the priority vaccination of teachers has been demanded by the unions for months.

The Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer had mentioned in early April a priority vaccination of teachers, starting with those who work with children “with disabilities”. The chosen strategy is ultimately aimed at all teachers, but only those over the age of 55.
