The curfew introduced at 6 p.m. “does not slow down enough” the spread of the Covid virus to be “fully effective”, said Gabriel Attal, the government spokesman, on Wednesday.

The ministers are therefore studying “different scenarios” which go “from maintaining the current framework to very tight confinement,” he said at the end of the Council of Ministers who followed a health defense council at the Elysee Palace. .

But “the maintenance of the current framework seems unlikely”, according to the spokesperson, who promised “a consultation with the Parliament and the unions” in the coming days.

The spokesperson also acknowledged that there was “weariness among many French people” and “among our caregivers” in the face of the health crisis.
