Vaccines for everyone, sooner than expected. The government has decided to advance to May 31 the opening date for vaccination against covid for all adults, initially scheduled for June 15. The vaccination of all priority professions, including teachers, police officers, gendarmes, cashiers or bus drivers, is brought forward to May 24, regardless of age.

Prime Minister Jean Castex announced these advances during a trip to the Gagny vaccination center in Seine-Saint-Denis, where he was accompanied by Minister of Health Olivier Véran.

Objective: 30 million vaccines by June 15

This acceleration of the schedule comes as France passed the 20 million mark on May 15 who had received at least one dose of vaccine. The next government goal is to reach 30 million people vaccinated first by June 15.

As of May 20, more than 21 million first doses have been injected and 9.9 million French people have been fully vaccinated.

Access without distinction

On May 31, all adults, without distinction, will therefore have access to vaccination. In this age group, people suffering from high-risk pathologies, pregnant women from the second trimester of pregnancy and all adults with comorbidities that hitherto allowed vaccination in 50-54 year olds, already had access to the vaccination.

Since May 10, all adults could also be vaccinated in centers where there are still appointments available the day before for the next day. But this opportunity was rare.
