Better manage the symptoms of “long covid” is the objective of the resolution adopted unanimously this afternoon in the National Assembly. The objective is to mobilize resources up to the recommendations published on Friday February 12 by the High Authority of Health, which officially recognizes the seriousness of these prolonged symptoms.

An emergency to better help patients like Matthieu, 42 years old. “Today I have a second body,… it’s not my body,” he explains when he contracted the disease four months earlier. “There are all the major symptoms, which are speech and memory problems. The tremor problems which are recurrent, explains Matthieu. And also the coordination problems of the limbs which prevent me from living a normal life. “

“This virus attacks all organs”

Cases like that of Matthieu are numerous, because as explained by Dr Roland Tubiana, infectiologist, “this virus attacks all organs, whether it be the brain, heart, lungs, skin, vessels, joints”. It is therefore, according to the HAS, to consider these symptoms well, with the realization of assessment, then to propose all the possible rehabilitations.

Matthieu has been doing physiotherapy for two months. But for those who do not have access to this care nearby, the deputy (LREM) of the 1st district of Hérault Patricia Mirallès, herself affected by a “long covid”, asks for hospitalization units in time complete: “I saw myself disabled, no longer being able to walk, no longer being able to run, and they put me back on my feet!”, she testifies.
